Keynote Speaker
Lianne Dalziel’s third term as Mayor of Christchurch will be her last term after just over 30 years of public service. Lianne served for 23 years in the New Zealand Parliament, including as a Cabinet Minister in the fifth Labour Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Helen Clark.
Having represented an electorate that was hard hit by the 2010-2011 Canterbury Earthquake Sequence, Lianne has become a respected champion of resilience with a strong understanding of post-disaster environments and opportunities.
With the experience of the earthquakes and the future impacts of climate change including sea level rise, the city’s focus is very much on risk and resilience, at the same time as building on the opportunities the last decade has opened up for the city.
